About Rich

Hello! My name is Rich Thomas and I am a Master Instructor, TecDeep Instructor, TDI Tec Instructor thru Extended Range and avid Side-mount Cave Diver at International Scuba. In my real life I am a scuba diver, because scuba diving is my job, passion, and obsession. The first time I ever went diving was 2001 in Cozumel. I knew I wanted to become a dive professional before I even got out of the water after my very first dive. My favorite place to dive locally is hard to pick because there are so many to choose from, but if I’m forced to dive in the ocean I like to go to Bonaire. Tulum, and the Florida caves are some of my regular locations for cave diving. My favorite classes to teach are Tec courses Side-mount, Wreck, and Cavern because these classes all have challenging skill sets. If you are my student, you should know that I am not a morning person either.

I look forward to teaching you soon!

About Jeanette

Hello! My name is Jeanette Smith and I am an IDC Staff Instructor at International Scuba. In my real life I am a scuba instructor! It’s all I do because scuba diving is the best job in the world. The first time I ever went diving was in a quarry in Ohio for my check out dives in 2001 I think it was October, so it was pretty cold! I knew I wanted to become a dive professional when I was in the middle of a bait ball playing the ” lost diver” for a rescue class. The barracuda were darting in and out trying to catch the fish and I was so awed by it, I almost forgot to play my part as the unresponsive diver. That single experience inspired me to make diving my living. My favorite place to dive locally is the Comal River, but if I’m forced to dive in the ocean I like to go to pretty much anywhere in the Caribbean. My favorite class to teach is Open Water because the smile on a new diver\’s face after they come up from their first breaths is so rewarding. If you are my student, you should know that diving is totally a sport and I will win every dive we go on. I also love practicing blowing bubble rings even though I’m not very good at them.

I look forward to teaching you soon!

About Joe

Hello!  My name is Joe Stone and I’m a Master Scuba Diver Trainer at International Scuba.  In my previous life I retired after a 28 year career in law enforcement.  I now work at International Scuba as a dive instructor and retail staff member.  Scuba diving is my passion and I find it extremely rewarding when I teach and get a chance to introduce scuba diving and the undersea world to new divers.

My favorite local place to dive is Huntsville, TX.  If I’m going to fly to a dive location, my favorite places to dive are Roatan, Honduraas and Bonaire.  I love Roatan for its great macro sea life and the shore diving doesn’t get much better than Bonaire, also known by many as the “Shore Diving Capital of the World.”

I look forward to meeting you when you come into the dive shop.  I hope to get to teach you a scuba course or help you with picking out new dive gear soon!

Let’s go diving!

Hello! My name is Patti Stewart and I am a Course Director and Director of Training at International Scuba. In my real life I am a beach bum wannabe, but scuba diving is my passion. The first time I ever went diving was St. Thomas, and I watched my hubby puke because of rough seas. But I still had an amazing dive at the Cow & Calf. I knew I wanted to become a dive professional because I am a teacher at heart so it was natural to me. My favorite place to dive locally is everywhere! I love all our local dive sites; each has something different o offer. If I\’m forced to dive in the ocean I like to go to Palau or Cozumel. My favorite classes to teach are Open Water, Rescue, and the Instructor Development Course. Each class has eye opening experiences and the learning is fun. If you are my student, you should know that he who finishes last wins and as an instructor the more tools in your toolbox, the better off you are.

Hello! My name is Brian Divine and I am a Master Instructor at International Scuba. In my real life I am a computer programmer and massage therapist, but scuba diving is my escape from reality. The first time I ever went diving was Memorial Day weekend, 1993 in Key Largo for my first ocean dive, but I got certified in Pelham, Alabama. It was an amazing experience. I knew I wanted to become a dive professional when I found that I kept helping people in class and at the lake. I knew it was time to do more and share my passion. My favorite place to dive locally is Clear Springs Scuba Park, but for a bit of a drive, the Blue Hole in Santa Rosa, New Mexico is wonderful. If I\’m forced to dive in the ocean I like to go to St. Croix and Bonaire and Grenada and Palau and… My favorite class to teach is Peak Performance Buoyancy because I love to see people get comfortable in the water in a fun way. If you are my student, you should know that you are required to laugh at my puns and share your best puns with me. I look forward to teaching you soon!

Hello, my name is Troy Smith and I am a Dive Master at international scuba. In my real life I am a Computer Infrastructure Architect and technology leader, and scuba is my break from reality.  In got certified in 2003 in preparation for a trip to Grand Cayman, and my only regret has been that I waited so long to start diving. In my early years I was fortunate to be working for a company based in Southern California, so frequent trips gave me opportunities to dive the kelp forests along the Channel Islands which pushed me to continue to learn.  It’s hard to pick a favorite dive spot.  I have dove the Caribbean from end to end and every place is unique, but I seem to end up in Cozumel, Roatan, and the Virgin Islands quite frequently.  Although I am just getting started in my professional career, I’ve already been responsible for getting 20+ friends or family members hooked and I enjoy being the leader when they lean on me during trips.  I like assisting with Open Water classes, especially when I get to help someone overcome a fear or problematic skill.
