We have our own training pool in Carrollton, TX which we use for your first confined water sessions.  The following weekend, we go to The Scuba Ranch in Terrell, TX to complete your open water dives for certification.  This is a quarry with clear water and fun things to see, all inspired specifically for divers.

Your Open Water Certfication course is taught by professional instructors who care for the safety and fun of our student divers.  We keep our instruction to small groups with a maximum of 6 people. We offer more personal attention, more fun, and a real quality dive experience and education. What you need to know before you register online:

The entire course takes 12- to 15-hours of self-study, 5 confined water sessions in our pool that can happen in three evenings or a weekend, and one weekend for open water dives.  Count on a few evenings of studying before and during the course so give yourself plenty of time to prepare.

You will need to come to our shop as soon as possible to purchase your personal gear for class (mask, fins, snorkel and boots), complete your Learning Agreement and Medical Questionnaire before your spot is secured in the class.

If you've always wanted to learn how to scuba dive, discover new adventures or simply see the wonderous world beneath the waves, this is where it starts. The PADI Open Water Diver course is the world's most popular scuba course, and has introduced millions of people to the adventurous lifestyle of diving.

We offer Small Class Sizes and Certification in 3 Main Phases:

The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases and we keep class sizes to a maximum of 6 students:

  • Online Self-Study: 12 to 15 hours of PADI eLearning to understand basic principles of scuba diving and what you have to look forward to. You can start anytime and do this from home.  Must be complete before your confined water dives.
  • Confined Water Dives:   You will learn and demonstrate basic sucba skills with our fun PADI Instructors in our 85-degree pool.  We offer a bi-monthly schedule and pool time is either three evenings or a weekend.
  • Open Water Checkout Dives: We create a fun, first-time diving event for you and your class at The Scuba Ranch in Terrell, TX, the weekend following your pool lessons.  Or, if you are headed right to vacation, you can do your checkout dives in the big blue ocean!  We can help find you a reputable dive shop if you need.  Let us know how we can make your educational experience the best for you!

The only prerequisites to enroll in the PADI Open Water Diver Course or Junior Open Water Course is to be 10 Years or Older and have the ability to swim.  

The Total Investment to Get Open Water Certified:

We understand that you might prefer to register online, however it is in your best interest if you call us at 972-416-8400 or come to the shop to get started.  There are a lot of details to getting certified and we want to make sure you choose the best way for you.  Besides class tuition of $475 for eLearning, confined pool and checkout dives, expect to invest $350 in personal gear, and $90 for park fees and tank fills.

Let's Talk About The Scuba Gear You Use

In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic scuba gear including a dive computer and standard accessories.

You are REQUIRED to have dive quality equipment in good working condition that fits properly.

If you arrive for class with poor-fitting gear or gear that is NOT dive quality, you will not be permitted in class.  Your best bet is to come into our shop at least two weeks in advance and our Dive Staff will work with you to select your personal equipment that ensures your comfort throughout the course. 

All of our personal gear is at Minimum Advertised Price so you will not be able to purchase for less online.  And, when you purchase your gear, you will be given a voucher for your weekend gear rental a value of $130.  


Our group confined water class schedule options:

  • 3 Monday/Wednesday Nights:   Monday, Wednesday, Monday Nights from 6:00 to 10:00 pm
  • 3 Tuesday/Thursday Nights:  Tuesday, Thursday, Tuesday Nights form 6:00 to 10:00 pm
  • Weekend: A Saturday and Sunday Weekend from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm both days

In all three cases, you will go the following weekend to Terrell, TX for your checkout dives from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm both Saturday and Sunday.

Private and Concierge Options are available:

Everyone is busy and sometimes schedules just don't work with our regular class schedules.  We offer private pool instruction at an additional investment of $200 per person.  This is an option if you are in a rush to get certified or want to schedule a private class for you and/or your entire family.  

Concierge Service is where we come to you.  We bring the mask, snorkle, boots and fins to your home and offer lessons in your pool with a private PADI Instructor.  Call 972.416.8400 for unique options and pricing to fit your needs.
