The Course

The PADI Enriched Air Diver course is our most popular specialty scuba course. Why? Because scuba diving with enriched air nitrox gives you more no decompression time, especially on repetitive scuba dives. If staying down longer and getting back in the water sooner sounds appealing, then don’t hesitate to become an enriched air diver.

Requirements

If you’re an Open Water Diver or equivalent who is at least 12 years old, you can enroll in the Enriched Air Diver Specialty course.

​The Learning

​You’ll learn why diving with air that has higher oxygen and lower nitrogen content gives you more bottom time, along with enriched air equipment considerations. During a practical application session you’ll:

  • Discuss managing oxygen exposure.
  • Practice analyzing oxygen content in your scuba tank.
  • Learn to set and use your dive computer for diving with enriched air nitrox.

​Stop by or call 972-416-8400 or 214-227-2494 to sign up for PADI eLearning – Enriched Air Diver to get started immediately. The web-based system covers all the enriched air diver course content and allows you to study at your own pace through an easy-to-use, interactive program.

​Once you complete the eLearning component of the course, stop by or give us a call at 972-416-8400 or 214-227-2494 to register for a practical application session. This is done at our dive center and takes about one hour, after which you will have earned the PADI Enriched Air Diver certification. There are no pool or open water dives required.

​The Gear

Most modern scuba equipment and dive computers can be used with enriched air, but your instructor will let you know if your gear meets manufacturer recommendations and local requirements. However, scuba tanks must meet oxygen service standards and be dedicated for use with enriched air. You’ll practice using oxygen analyzers and recognizing special cylinder decals. Your instructor will explain other equipment you may need to enjoy enriched air diving.
