Cavern Diver

The Course

The Cavern Diver course is designed to develop cavern diving skills within the daylight zone and to ensure that divers are capable of risk management in an overhead environment.

This course is taught in the premiere cavern diving destination of Tulum, Mexico by our partner Cave Diving Tulum.

Requirements

There are several requirements for this course:

  • 18 years old (or 15 years with approval of guardian)
  • 20 logged dives
  • Advanced Open Water Diver
  • Intro to Tec certification or equivalent (in the equipment configuration to be used)

​The Learning

The Cavern Course includes theory modules, land drills, confined open water skills, and overhead cavern dives with scenario-based training.

​Pricing

​$250 per day (min 3 days) plus certification fee.

​Course tuition includes:

  • 32% Nitrox Fills
  • Entrance fees
  • Refreshments
  • Transportation to/from central Tulum town

We recommend combining the Cavern Diver course with the Intro to Cave course.

​The Gear

This course must be taken in backmounted doubles or sidemount configuration. A suitable primary light is required. For exposure protection a 5-7mm wetsuit or drysuit is recommended.

Your Cavern Diver certification can be the first step in the journey to Intro to Cave and Full Cave Diver.
