The Course

Haven’t conducted a scuba rescue or practiced those rescue skills lately? Feeling a bit rusty on assisting other divers in need? The Rescue Refresher program is just what you need to brush up on your knowledge and skills. A Scuba Frisco Instructor will get you in the water having fun and feeling comfortable tuning up those little used skills. It’s quick and easy, and a good way to prepare for your next scuba course or get ready for adventure on a diving vacation.

Requirements

Any certified Rescue Diver, Master Scuba Diver or Divemaster regardless of certifying agency, who needs a refresher, pre-travel update, pre-assessment for a pro level course or an upgrade from Junior Rescue Diver diver can complete a Rescue Refresher.

​*Your Rescue Diver certification does not expire. Participation in Rescue Refresher is not mandatory, but recommended as an easy way to refresh your scuba rescue knowledge and skills.

​The Learning

​During a short class session you’ll review:

Fundamentals of diver stress and what causes diving accidents.

Identifying equipment problems.

Review the basic steps of CPR and AED use.

Review the use of emergency oxygen systems.

​Then, during a pool session you’ll review and practice responding to:

Tired and stressed divers.

Panicked divers.

Unconscious divers.

​The Gear

​You’ll use basic scuba gear including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, BCD and a scuba tank. Our staff will explain other equipment you may need to refresh your skills.

​Now that you’ve tuned-up your rescue skills, you may want to expand your diving opportunities even more with a specialty course or consider going pro as a divemaster. Ask your instructor or divemaster about the possibilities.
